The on-demand beauty service app – GlamSquad – has appointed Alexandra Wilkis Wilson as its new president and chief executive officer, effective September 1st.

Wilson will lead GlamSquad’s expansion into new service lines, geographies and revenue streams. The app-based service helps users gain access to affordable at-home beauty services by experienced stylists.

Wilson is the co-founder of Gilt, where she was instrumental in bringing the online shopping destination from the start-up phase to a global online retail platform with over 9 million members and more than 1,000 employees. Wilson will continue as its strategic advisor. Wilson also has more than 15 years experience in luxury goods, retail and finance, including prior positions at Bulgari, Louis Vuitton and Merrill Lynch.

Wilson commented: “GlamSquad’s early stage traction and customer engagement are remarkable. I am thrilled to be joining such a fantastic team and share their vision and passion for improving women’s lives. We intend to build on a powerful business idea and accelerate growth in new markets in a disruptive, highly scalable way.”

Concurrent with Wilson’s arrival, co-founder Victoria Eisner will assume the role of GlamSquad’s executive VP and chief creative officer.

Eisner said, “Alexandra is the perfect addition to the GlamSquad team and the fact that she has chosen to work with us on her next entrepreneurial venture is a testament to our early traction and execution. She deeply understands our mission…”

Jason Perri, co-founder and executive chairman, GlamSquad, added: “Alexandra is a well-known and highly-respected pioneer in e-commerce, and her expertise will help guide the next stage of our evolution into a robust beauty marketplace and lifestyle portal.”
